        Introduced  by  Sen. MATTERA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on  Energy  and  Telecommuni-
          cations

        AN  ACT  to  amend  the public service law, in relation to directing the
          public service commission to evaluate hydrogen, sewage thermal energy,
          and nuclear small modular reactors as renewable energy sources

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1. Section 5 of the public service law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 7 to read as follows:
     3    7. The commission shall evaluate hydrogen, sewage thermal energy,  and
     4  nuclear  small  modular  reactors  as renewable energy sources and shall
     5  within one year of the effective date of this subdivision submit to  the
     6  governor and the legislature the results of such evaluation.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
