Senate Resolution No. 2070 BY: Senator HARCKHAM MOURNING the death of Police Sergeant Kenneth Faughnan, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great State of New York; and WHEREAS, Kenneth Faughnan of Peekskill, New York, died on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the age of 58; and WHEREAS, Born in Peekskill, NY on December 10, 1964 to the late Lawrence Faughnan and Joan Feery Faughnan, Kenneth Faughnan graduated from Franciscan High School in Mohegan Lake, New York before furthering his education at SUNY Oneonta; and WHEREAS, Embarking on an illustrious career in law enforcement, Kenneth Faughnan started as a Park Ranger in his hometown; eventually, he earned his certification as a police officer and served the community of Peekskill for 20 years before retiring as a Sergeant in 2008; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Kenneth Faughnan was also a former member of the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corp; and WHEREAS, Kenneth Faughnan distinguished himself in his profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community; and WHEREAS, Kenneth Faughnan's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charitable and civic endeavors; and WHEREAS, Kenneth Faughnan is survived by his children, Kenneth Scott, Shannon Faughnan, and Keeley Faughnan; his sister, Maureen Nelson; his brothers, Lawrence Faughnan and Christopher Faughnan; his former wives and close friends Kimberly Purdy and Kimberley Ferguson; and many other nephews, nieces, and cousins; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Kenneth Faughnan leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Police Sergeant Kenneth Faughnan, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Police Sergeant Kenneth Faughnan.
