Senate Resolution No. 47

        HONORING  James S. Staffo upon the occasion of his
        retirement after 50 years of  distinguished  service
        to   the   Herkimer  and  Oneida  County  Boards  of
        Elections

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body   seeks   to   acknowledge   those
individuals  whose  professional  lives  and  civic  endeavors  serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

  WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, James S. Staffo  rendered  faithful,
conscientious,  and  valuable  service to the Herkimer and Oneida County
Boards of Elections; and

  WHEREAS, In his capacities working on voting machines  and  ensuring
that  elections ran smoothly, James S. Staffo served with loyalty, honor
and distinction; and

  WHEREAS,  James S. Staffo began his life of service when  he  joined
the  United States Marine Corps in 1960, serving until 1966; in 1967, he
joined  the  Little  Falls  Fire  Department,  serving  as  Chief   from
1983-2001;  he  served  as  NYS Association of Fire Chiefs Director from
2009-2015, and a NYS Fire Instructor for 41 years mentoring thousands of
SFIs throughout Herkimer and Oneida Counties; and

  WHEREAS, In his official acts, James S. Staffo  was  governed  by  a
keen  sense  of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and

  WHEREAS, James S. Staffo currently serves as  proud  member  of  the
Schuyler  Fire  Department  since 2001, is a member of the VFW, American
Legion, Marine Corps League, DeCarlo-Staffo Post  Italian  American  War
Veterans, and Eagles Club No. 97; and

  WHEREAS,  During  his  tenure  with  the  Herkimer and Oneida County
Boards of Elections, James S. Staffo earned the admiration, esteem,  and
affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James S. Staffo upon the occasion of his retirement after 50 years
of distinguished service; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to James S. Staffo.
