STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10367 IN ASSEMBLY May 21, 2024 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Glick) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Housing AN ACT to amend the multiple dwelling law, in relation to occupancy of joint living-work quarters for artists The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 16 of section 277 of the multiple dwelling law 2 is renumbered subdivision 17 and a new subdivision 16 is added to read 3 as follows: 4 16. Should a city department of cultural affairs fail to certify, over 5 any preceding ten-year period, a number of artists, which exceeds the 6 number of joint living-work quarters for artists in such city by at 7 least fifty percent, general residential occupancy of joint living-work 8 quarters in such city shall be permitted. 9 § 2.
