A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. GLENDA B. GLOVER UPON HER SELECTION AS FIRST SUPREME ANTI-BASILEUS FOR ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC.

     WHEREAS, Dr. Glenda B. Glover of Jackson, Mississippi, chapter Beta Delta Omega, was selected as First Supreme Anti-Basileus for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Glover is President of Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, and holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Tennessee State University, a MBA in accounting from Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, a Ph.D. in business and economics from George Washington University, in Washington, D.C. and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.; and

     WHEREAS, as a certified public accountant and licensed attorney, she holds the distinction of being one of only two African-American females to have the CPA, Ph.D. and J.D. combination in the United States; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Glover's esteemed leadership role as President of Tennessee State University, which demands extreme concentration and fortitude, enables her to serve the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as First Supreme Anti-Basileus with even more dexterity and expertise, making her an exceptionally fundamental component of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and 

     WHEREAS, Dr. Glover's superlative vision as First Supreme Anti-Basileus is to promote stability in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.,'s sisterhood; instill fiscal integrity and accountability; reduce boule registration costs to sorors and shorten the number of days of the boule; ensure that undergraduates are more engaged at the national level by preparing them to seek more significant leadership roles in AKA; and open the flow of communications between the membership and the directorate; and

     WHEREAS, after being selected as First Supreme Anti-Basileus in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Dr. Glover has not only accomplished her initial goals for the sorority, but she has also excelled even further to guarantee that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is one of the most prestigious sororities a young woman can join, both at the national and international levels; and

     WHEREAS, because Dr. Glover has a heart for her community and giving back to the less fortunate, she has participated in countless service projects and activities as a part of her current chapter, as well as her prior chapters, Xi Omega Chapter of Washington, D.C., and Alpha Psi Chapter of Tennessee State University, and her dedicated service has extended from the local level to the regional and even international levels; and

     WHEREAS, prior to her current position as President of Tennessee State University, Dr. Glover served as Dean of the College of Business at Jackson State University, where through her ambition and purpose, she heroically implemented the first Ph.D. in Business at a Historically Black College or University; and

     WHEREAS, Philippians, Chapter 4, Verse 13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," has been the treasured mantra driving Dr. Glover to lead and allowed her to set an incredible and unforgettable example for all the women in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., that undoubtedly look to her for guidance and wisdom; and

     WHEREAS, throughout Dr. Glover's immeasurably successful and prosperous career, she has received a faithful and unwavering shower of loving support from her husband, Charles Glover; daughter, Soror Candace Baskin Glover, an attorney in Washington, D.C.; and son, Dr. Charles Glover II, a mathematician in Washington, D.C.; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to acknowledge those achieving excellence, and it is only fitting that we bring special recognition to Dr. Glover, who brings great pride to her sorority and the entire State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Glenda B. Glover upon her selection as First Supreme Anti-Basileus for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and extend sincerest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Glenda B. Glover, to the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Beta Delta Omega chapter, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
