1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Justin Olsen on his eight years of outstanding service on the Cottage Grove
1.3City Council.
1.4WHEREAS, those civic-minded individuals who work tirelessly in their communities perform
1.5an important service deserving of special legislative recognition; and
1.6WHEREAS, Justin Olsen served on the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Commission
1.7(now the Public Services Commission) before joining the Cottage Grove City Council eight years
1.8ago; and
1.9WHEREAS, over the past eight years of Justin's service, Cottage Grove saw many changes
1.10including the expansion of the business park, new housing developments bringing more residents
1.11to the city, many road improvements, and the completion of a new City Hall/Public Safety facility
1.12on time and under budget; and
1.13WHEREAS, Justin is also very proud of the work the council did on the city budget and
1.14moving the city into a AA+ bond rating through responsible fiscal management; and
1.15WHEREAS, under Justin the council has grown the tax base and facilitated significant
1.16growth in their commercial sector, including many positive strides in the business park; and
1.17WHEREAS, last year, Justin decided not to run for another term; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19congratulates Justin Olsen on his eight years of outstanding service on the Cottage Grove City
1.20Council, and wishes him well in his future plans.
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.22enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.23Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Justin Olsen.
