1.2relating to crime victims; appropriating money to provide emergency shelter for
1.3East African women and children victims of abuse.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; VOICE OF EAST AFRICAN WOMEN
1.6ORGANIZATION.
1.7$565,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $650,000 in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated from
1.8the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to the Voice of East
1.9African Women organization to provide emergency shelter programming for victims of
1.10domestic abuse and trafficking. The program shall provide shelter to East African women
1.11and children and other victims of domestic violence in Minnesota. The appropriations
1.12must be used for the operating expenses of a shelter. The amount appropriated in 2015 is
1.13added to the base for the Office of Justice Programs in the Department of Public Safety for
1.14grants for emergency shelter programming for victims of domestic abuse and trafficking.
1.15EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
