1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to state government; requiring a study of funding, impact, and needs of
1.3artists from diverse racial and ethnic communities in the state.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. STUDY.
1.6The Minnesota State Arts Board shall study the following topics relating to artists
1.7from diverse racial and ethnic communities:
1.8(1) utilization of artists from diverse racial and ethnic communities in the state's arts
1.9institutions that have 20 or more employees;
1.10(2) barriers that hinder the growth of these artists;
1.11(3) facility needs of these artists; and
1.12(4) business development and technical needs of these artists.
1.13The board shall submit an interim report by December 31, 2014, and a final report
1.14by June 30, 2015, to the governor and to the chairs and ranking minority members of the
1.15legislative committees with jurisdiction over arts funding with recommendations to address
1.16the board's findings. The board must post the reports on its Web site and must make
1.17additional reasonable efforts to make the Minnesota arts community aware of the report.
