HOUSE BILL No. 5324

 

 

December 6, 2017, Introduced by Rep. Kosowski and referred to the Committee on Education Reform.

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1167.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1167. (1) A school district or public school academy

 

shall allow a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States to

 

serve as a mentor to pupils.

 

     (2) As used in this section:

 

     (a) "Armed Forces of the United States" means the Armed Forces

 

of the United States and their reserve components and the United

 

States Coast Guard.

 

     (b) "Veteran" means an individual who served in the Armed

 

Forces of the United States and was discharged or released under

conditions other than dishonorable.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
