HOUSE BILL NO. 4541

A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

"The revised school code,"

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1290.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1290. (1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2), a high school interscholastic athletic activity or a season or partial season of a high school interscholastic athletic activity may be canceled only by the legislature by enacting a bill for the cancelation of that high school interscholastic athletic activity or season or partial season of the high school interscholastic athletic activity.

(2) A public school may cancel a high school interscholastic athletic activity or a season or partial season of a high school interscholastic athletic activity only due to any of the following circumstances:

(a) Weather conditions.

(b) Road conditions.

(c) Power loss.

(d) Water main bursts.

(e) Flooding.

(f) Threats of violence.

(g) A death within the community.
