SENATE RESOLUTION

MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to establish an interim study committee to study the issues regarding a child protection registry.

    Whereas, A child protection registry is a secure data base of protected electronic mail addresses and other contact points;

    Whereas, A child protection registry that works as designed will give parents the ability to protect their children and will enable Indiana to ensure that our children are safeguarded against receiving inappropriate information;

    Whereas, The establishment of a child protection registry may be a significant step in helping to keep the children of Indiana safe; and

    Whereas, Some members of the Internet marketing industry have expressed doubts as to the efficacy of a child protection registry: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish an interim study committee to study the issues regarding a child protection registry.
    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate

under the direction of the legislative council, and that the committee shall issue a final report when directed to do so by the council.
