1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
5Section 30-205 as follows:
6 (60 ILCS 1/30-205)
7 Sec. 30-205. Advisory referenda. Any group of registered
8voters may request an advisory question of public policy
9pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under this
10Article for consideration by the electors at the annual
11meeting by giving written notice of the specific advisory
12question to the township clerk in the same manner as required
13for an agenda item under subsection (b) of Section 30-10. The
14agenda published by the township board shall include any such
15advisory question if the request is timely filed. By a vote of
16the majority of electors present at a town meeting, the
17electors may authorize that an advisory question of public
18policy pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under
19this Article, for which notice has been given as required by
20this Section, be placed on the ballot at the next regularly
21scheduled election in the township. The township board shall
22certify the question to the proper election officials, who
23shall submit the question in accordance with the general
