2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ralph L. | ||||||
4 | Cox of Belleville, who passed away on August 10, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox was born on December 26, 1929 in | ||||||
6 | Carterville; he married Teresa Monolo on March 15, 1952; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox served his country as a member of the | ||||||
8 | United States Navy during the Korean War; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox served as an educator for 39 years, with | ||||||
10 | 32 of those years as school superintendent of Belle Valley | ||||||
11 | School District 119; as a strong proponent of education, he | ||||||
12 | also lobbied in Springfield for many educational issues; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox was a member and past president of the | ||||||
14 | Belleville Rotary Club; he was president of the Illinois | ||||||
15 | Retired Teachers Association, the St. Clair County School | ||||||
16 | Administrators, and the St. Clair County Retired Teachers | ||||||
17 | Association; he was a board member of the Illinois Association | ||||||
18 | of School Administrators; he was Vice President of Hospice of | ||||||
19 | Southern Illinois; he was treasurer of the St. Clair Township | ||||||
20 | Lighting District; he was also a member of Belleville Elks | ||||||
21 | Lodge 481, American Legion Belleville Post 58, and many other |

1 | civic organizations and humanitarian boards; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox enjoyed spending time with his family | ||||||
3 | and friends, bowling, fishing, and his Friday night beer and | ||||||
4 | fish; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox was preceded in death by his parents, | ||||||
6 | Lester and Mary (nee Rushing) Cox; a sister, Pauline Brown; and | ||||||
7 | 2 brothers, Buster Cox and Bobby Cox; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Ralph Cox is survived by his wife of 62 years, | ||||||
9 | Teresa (nee Monolo) Cox; 3 children, Gary Lee (Karen) Cox, | ||||||
10 | Linda Sue (Scott) Pearson, and Jeffrey Allen (Krissa) Cox; 6 | ||||||
11 | grandchildren, Kyle Thomas (Emily) Pearson, Angela Nicole | ||||||
12 | Pearson, Zachary Alexander Cox, Robert Scott Pearson, Logan | ||||||
13 | Allen Cox, and Caden Maxwell Cox; 2 great-grandchildren, Thomas | ||||||
14 | Cooper Pearson and James George Pearson; and many nieces and | ||||||
15 | nephews; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
17 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Ralph L. Cox; and be it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Ralph Cox as an expression of our |
