HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Shuntel
4Rapheal "Shun" "Best Kept" Williams, who passed away on April
51, 2024; and
6 WHEREAS, Shun Williams was born to Felicia Elise McClain
7and Larry (Doby) Williams in Peoria on November 20, 1982; he
8committed to his faith at an early age and attended Faith
9Missionary Full Gospel Church; he was engaged to Sharece Marie
10Yearian, his partner of 10 years, and they raised two children
11together, Champion Emory-Maddox Williams and De'Kijia Vonece;
12and
13 WHEREAS, Shun Williams was a dedicated employee at Little
14Caesars Pizza, a position that allowed him to pursue his
15passions; and
16 WHEREAS, Shun Williams was deeply passionate about music
17and was a talented musician and rapper; he collaborated and
18recorded with numerous talented artists, including his
19lifelong best friend, Greg Flowers, known as Passport Louis;
20Some of his career highlights include recording at Grand
21Hustle Studios, also known as T.I. Studios, in Atlanta,
22Georgia and recording with King Louis; his classic album

1Lisa's Youngest Boy garnered widespread acclaim and headlined
2at the South by Southwest "SXSW" festival in Austin, Texas; he
3also performed at the Michigan Music Festival and the Peoria
4Riverfront Festival; he was known for his collaborations and
5tours with underground artists, including King Louie, Mickey
6Factz, the Founder of Pendulum Inc., and No Fatigue; he had
7recently released one of his first solo songs and was a
8finalist in the Royalty of the Mic event in 2023; and
9 WHEREAS, Shun Williams enjoyed traveling with his family
10and acting as their personal comedian; his love for his family
11knew no bounds; and
12 WHEREAS, Shun Williams was a force of nature, pouring his
13heart and soul into his music and everything he did; he will be
14remembered for his infectious smile, laugh, and music; and
15 WHEREAS, Shun Williams was preceded in death by his
16father; his brother, Shadrone McClain; his aunt, Earnestine
17Williams; and his grandparents, Ernest McClain, Nellie Corrine
18McClain, Excenia Woods Cannon, and Willie Williams; and
19 WHEREAS, Shun Williams is survived by his children,
20Jayshun Sincere, Janya Anarie Angie, Jaliyah Elise Brenaisa,
21and Justice Tahiry; his mother; his sisters, Tiffany Williams
22and Angela Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins,

2therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we mourn the passing of Shuntel Rapheal "Shun" "Best Kept"
6Williams and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
7friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
