1 AN ACT concerning human rights.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Reproductive Health Act is amended by
5adding Section 1-23 as follows:
6 (775 ILCS 55/1-23 new)
7 Sec. 1-23. Information required prior to performance of
8abortion. Before an abortion may be performed by a health care
9professional, the health care professional must provide the
10patient with the following information developed by the
11Department:
12 (1) Geographically available public and private
13 agencies, including adoption agencies, and services that
14 are available to provide information on family planning,
15 including natural family planning information, available
16 to provide ultrasound imaging services. This information
17 must include a comprehensive list of the agencies
18 available, a description of the services offered, and a
19 description of the manner in which to be contacted,
20 including telephone numbers and addresses.
21 (2) The availability of governmentally funded programs
22 that serve pregnant patients and children. Services
23 identified for the pregnant person must include medical
