Hubert
Houser
comes
from
a
family
that
has

long
been
involved
in
public
service
to
Iowa,
with
both

his
grandfather
and
brother
holding
public
office;
and
5
WHEREAS,
Senator
Houser
began
his
own
public
service
6
in
Pottawattamie
County
serving
on
the
Pottawattamie
7
County
Board
of
Supervisors,
the
Carson-Macedonia
8
School
Board,
and
the
Pottawattamie
County
Economic
9
Development
Board;
and
10
WHEREAS,
Hubert
Houser
was
elected
to
the
House
of
11
Representatives
in
1992,
beginning
over
20
years
of
12
legislative
service;
and
13
WHEREAS,
in
2004,
Senator
Houser
was
first
14
elected
to
the
Senate,
where
he
has
now
served
for
10
15
years;
and
16
WHEREAS,
over
the
next
decade
Senator
Houser
served
17
on
a
variety
of
legislative
committees,
including
18
the
Agriculture,
Appropriations,
Labor
and
Business
19
Relations,
Local
Government,
Natural
Resources
and
20
Environment
(Chair),
Transportation,
Ways
and
Means,

and
Economic
Growth/Rebuild
Iowa
(Ranking
Member)

standing
committees,
and
the
Agriculture
and
Natural

Resources
Appropriations
Subcommittee
(Vice
Chair);
and

WHEREAS,
Senator
Houser
is
known
as
an
adept
floor

manager,
acting
as
the
primary
floor
manager
for

the
mental
health
reforms
and
property
tax
relief

legislation
enacted
in
1995
and
for
the
Iowa
community

honors
