RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending The Home Depot Foundation; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
The Home Depot Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that was established in
2002 to further the community building goals of The Home Depot by providing
additional resources to assist nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS,
the mission of The Home Depot Foundation is to improve homes and lives through
partnership with local nonprofits and volunteer efforts of Team Depot, which
focuses on repairing and refurbishing homes and facilities that serve
disadvantaged families and individuals; and
WHEREAS,
The Home Depot Foundation places a special emphasis on serving United States
military veterans who are facing growing financial and physical hardships at
home as they return to civilian life; and
WHEREAS,
over the next three years, The Home Depot Foundation will invest over $30
million to help ease the burdens of military veterans by repairing and
renovating homes for them; and
WHEREAS,
The Home Depot Foundation has provided cash and in-kind donations exceeding $74
million to more than 5,300 nonprofit organizations, funded and supported the
building and preservation of 33,000 affordable homes, and planted 169,000
community trees; and
WHEREAS,
the board of directors of The Home Depot Foundation include Craig Menear, Kelly
Caffarelli, Dominic Piccininni, Giles Bowman, Lyne Castonguay, Christopher
Duffy, Kevin Hofmann, Erin Izen, Ron Jarvis, Jim Kane, Kent Knutson, Trish
Mueller, Brad Shaw, and Darryl Tieken; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of this
distinguished organization be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend The Home Depot Foundation for its effective, efficient,
unselfish, and dedicate public service to the community and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to The Home
Depot Foundation.
