A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Tom Cook on the occasion of his retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Tom Cook earned a bachelor's degree from Harding College in 1973 and two
graduate degrees from Harding Graduate School of Religion in 1976;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cook has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital
role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the Georgia Department of
Veterans since; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cook served as the department service officer for The American Legion
Department of Georgia from 1998 to 2005, joined the Georgia Department of
Veterans Service in February of 1998, and served as claims counselor, director
of claims, and is currently the assistant commissioner of field operations and
claims; and
WHEREAS,
he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty as a chaplain in
the United States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow
Americans in Germany and South Korea, and retired as a lieutenant colonel in
1997; and
WHEREAS,
he has been a valuable asset to the work of the House Committee on Defense and
Veterans Affairs in the Georgia House of Representatives and was counted on by
many; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cook's significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable
patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the
needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cook has served with honor and distinction with the Georgia Department of
Veterans Service and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed
upon the occasion of his retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Tom Cook for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to the State of Georgia, congratulate him upon the
grand occasion of his retirement, and extend to him their most sincere best
wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Tom Cook.
