A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Officer Bennie Eugene Reinhardt; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Officer Bennie Eugene Reinhardt on March 18, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Officer Reinhardt was born on November 22, 1949, a beloved son of the late Evelyn Bragg Hardeman and Bennie C. Reinhardt, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Officer Reinhardt was highly regarded as a person of unquestioned integrity and dedication to the sound principles of law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, he joined the Locust Grove Police Department on October 6, 2002, and served as a police officer for over nine years; and

WHEREAS, he set an example of dedication to what the law enforcement profession is all about and will always be remembered for his smile; and

WHEREAS, Officer Reinhardt was united in love and marriage to Sheila Anne Reinhardt, and was blessed with two remarkable children, Gena Lynn and Kurt, and two wonderful stepchildren, Shannon Houston and Stan Helton; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, this law enforcement officer exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates with his unyielding service to this state; and
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Officer Reinhardt will long be remembered for his love of family and friendship, and this loyal son, husband, father, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Officer Bennie Eugene Reinhardt and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Officer Bennie Eugene Reinhardt.
