A RESOLUTION


Commending Jamichael Williams, Hancock Central High School's 2012 STAR Student; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, Jamichael Williams has shown by academic accomplishment that the pursuit and attainment of scholastic success are within the reach of the students in this state; and

WHEREAS, a gifted student at Hancock Central High School, this remarkable scholar has been recognized for superlative achievement and selected as Hancock Central High School's 2012 STAR Student; and

WHEREAS, to be selected as a STAR Student for a high school, a student must have obtained the highest score in one administration of the three-part Scholastic Aptitude Test and be in the top 10 percent or top ten students of his or her class; and

WHEREAS, each school has one STAR Student who in turn has the opportunity to choose a STAR Teacher who has been inspiring and encouraging throughout that student's high school career; and

WHEREAS, educator Monica Poole was chosen by Jamichael as Hancock Central High School's 2012 STAR Teacher for the great support and guidance provided to Jamichael throughout the years; and

WHEREAS, Jamichael has personified the selfless dedication, mental agility, verbal adroitness, and personal maturity necessary for superlative academic performance; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this bright and promising young citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily recognize Jamichael Williams for being named Hancock Central High School's 2012 STAR Student and express their most sincere best wishes for continued academic success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jamichael Williams.
