SENATE BILL NO. 176

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 19 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE MINIMUM WAGE.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Amend Section 902(a), Chapter 9, Title 19 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§902 Minimum wage rate [For current federal minimum wage, see 29 U.S.C. §206(a)(1)(A)]

(a)     Except as may otherwise be provided under this chapter, every employer shall pay to every employee in any occupation wages of a rate:

(1)     Not less than $7.75 per hour effective June 1, 2014; and

(2)     Not less than $8.25 per hour effective June 1, 2015.; and

(3)Not less than $10.10 per hour effective June 1, 2016.

Upon the establishment of a federal minimum wage in excess of the state minimum wage, the minimum wage in this State shall be equal to the federal minimum wage, except as may otherwise be provided under this chapter.


SYNOPSIS

This bill provides for an increase in the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.
