HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 91

HONORING THE ARMY WARRANT OFFICER CORPS FOR THEIR 100TH ANNIVERSARY.

WHEREAS, the official birthday of the Army Warrant Officer Corps is July 9, 1918 when an act of Congress established the Army Mine Planter Service as part of the Coast Artillery Corps; and

WHEREAS, the military grade of warrant officer is one of the oldest in the Western military system; and

WHEREAS, evidence of the use of warrant officers can be found as far back as the 13 th century; and

WHEREAS, warrant officers have been involved in every major U.S. conflict since the First World War; and

WHEREAS, Warrant Officers specialize in a technical area of the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Warrant Officers have a great job responsibility that includes training Soldiers, organizing and advising on missions, and advancing within their career specialties - although they make up less than three percent of total Army strength.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 149th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the Army Warrant Officer Corps be honored for their 100 th anniversary on July 9, 2018 and sincerely appreciated for all of the serviced and sacrifice that they have made for this nation.
