BILL NUMBER: SB 1097 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Fuller FEBRUARY 16, 2012 An act to amend Section 201 of the Public Utilities Code, relating to public utilities. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 1097, as introduced, Fuller. Public utilities. Under existing law, the Public Utilities Commission has regulatory authority over public utilities, as defined. The Public Utilities Act requires every public utility to furnish and maintain adequate, efficient, just, and reasonable service, instrumentalities, equipment, and facilities as are necessary to promote the safety, health, comfort, and convenience of its patrons, employees, and the public. This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to the name of the act. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 201 of the Public Utilities Code is amended to read: 201. This part may be cited as the"PublicPublic UtilitiesAct."Act.
