AN ACT

 

amending section 41‑511.03, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to the arizona state parks board.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 41-511.03, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE41-511.03.  Purposes; objectives; privatization of state parks

a.  The purposes and objectives of the board shall be to select, acquire, preserve, establish and maintain areas of natural features, scenic beauty, historical and scientific interest, and zoos and botanical gardens, for the education, pleasure, recreation, and health of the people, and for such other purposes as may be prescribed by law.

B.  Notwithstanding any other law, the board may enter into agreements with private vendors to operate all state park facilities.  The agreements may provide that a private vendor operate one or more state park facilities. In entering into the agreements, the board shall include a mission statement that the purpose of the state parks is to provide for recreational opportunities for the public and to preserve natural space that can be effectively enjoyed by the public. 

C.  Any agreement entered into by the board shall provide for continued public ownership of a state park. END_STATUTE
