A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-5-50, relating to providing funding for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instruction Fund for high school students.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

ARTICLE 5. COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

§18-5-50.  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instruction Funding.

There is hereby created in the State Treasury a special revenue fund to be known as the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instruction Fund.  The fund shall consist of all moneys received from legislative appropriations and other sources to further the purpose of this section:  Provided, That annually, the West Virginia Department of Education shall request an appropriation based on the requests of the county boards of education.  Subject to legislative appropriation, the funds appropriated annually to the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instruction Fund shall be distributed to the county boards of education and multicounty vocational centers, with the funding amount per school determined by multiplying the number of projected regular public-school graduates by $5.00.  All moneys distributed from this fund shall be used to support the purpose and intent of this section and all moneys must be spent to support the school for which the funding was derived.  
Any remaining moneys in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall be carried forward for use in the next fiscal year.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to create a special revenue fund known as the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instruction Fund to provide funding for CPR instruction to high school students.
