WHEREAS, Kenneth Perry, a trusted community leader and local business owner, was honored by the Rotary Club of West Richmond as its longest serving member in August 2023; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Ken" Perry serves the Richmond community as chair of VAMAC, a family-owned plumbing, well, and septic wholesale company with more than 100 years of experience; and
WHEREAS, VAMAC was established as the Virginia Machine and Well Company in 1915; Ken Perry's father, Julian, joined the business in 1923, then became president and chief executive officer in 1954; and
WHEREAS, Ken Perry joined the company the following year and rose through the ranks, overseeing decades of growth and expansion; and
WHEREAS, outside of his career, Ken Perry has been actively involved in his community by serving as president of the Windsor Foundation, the Richmond Symphony, and Henricus Historical Park; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Rotary Club of West Richmond, Ken Perry has worked diligently to enhance the quality of life in the Richmond community, adhering to the organization's motto "Service Above Self"; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being the longest serving member of the Rotary Club of West Richmond in the club's history and a past president, Ken Perry has also achieved more than 50 years of perfect attendance and is the first member of the club to reach such a milestone; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Kenneth Perry hereby be commended for his accomplishments on behalf of the Richmond community as a member of the Rotary Club of West Richmond; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kenneth Perry as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his generous contributions to his fellow Richmond residents.
