SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 172
Commending the South Loudoun Youth Chorale.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, March 8, 2024

 

WHEREAS, the South Loudoun Youth Chorale is a nonprofit organization based in Loudoun County that provides children in Northern Virginia with the opportunity to perform in their community, engage with peers of all backgrounds, and experience diverse forms of music; and

WHEREAS, the South Loudoun Youth Chorale is a new nonprofit organization, which had its first season in the summer of 2023, and it has already executed a successful summer camp program with more than 90 students, as well as a winter concert; and

WHEREAS, the South Loudoun Youth Chorale provides students with a premium musical education and opportunities to perform music beyond the school setting; and

WHEREAS, the South Loudoun Youth Chorale encourages youth of all genders, ethnicities, religions, and racial backgrounds to engage in personal growth through the study of music and exposes its students to music in diverse languages and by underrepresented composers; and

WHEREAS, the South Loudoun Youth Chorale is dedicated to ensuring that all youth have the opportunity to participate in the joys of music by offering scholarships to disadvantaged students and those who are otherwise unable to access music education; and

WHEREAS, the South Loudoun Youth Chorale is committed to the core values of service, leadership, joy, and caring; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the South Loudoun Youth Chorale hereby be commended for its commitment to musical performance, youth development, and community service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the South Loudoun Youth Chorale as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for its achievements in the arts, musical performance, and student leadership.
