WHEREAS, Elton J. Wade, Sr., who has represented the Cold Harbor District on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors for 23 years, retires in 2015; and WHEREAS, Elton Wade was elected to the Hanover County Board of Supervisors in 1991 and was chair of the board in 1999; during his entire length of service, he has presided over the Hanover County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission; and WHEREAS, one of the accomplishments Elton Wade is proudest of is the establishment of Pole Green Park; a bond referendum secured the funds to purchase land in eastern Hanover County for the park and for Pole Green Elementary School; and WHEREAS, Elton Wade takes pride in the Hanover County Board of Supervisors' determination to manage the county's funds in a fiscally responsible manner; as a supervisor, he has tried to balance individual property rights with proper growth management and to adhere to the county's Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, throughout his tenure as a member of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors, Elton Wade always tried to do whatever he could to help constituents with issues that concerned them; additionally, he is pleased that the various members of the board have worked well together; and WHEREAS, public service has been part of Elton Wade's life for many years; he has been a member of the Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department for more than three decades and was employed for more than 50 years by the Hanover County public school system as a bus driver and school traffic guard; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Elton J. Wade, Sr., hereby be commended for his 23 years of service as a member of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors representing the Cold Harbor District; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Elton J. Wade, Sr., as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect and admiration for his dedication and service to Hanover County and the Commonwealth. |
