SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 351

Commending the Auburn High School volleyball team.

WHEREAS, in 2024, the Auburn High School volleyball team in Montgomery County earned its sixth consecutive state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn High School Eagles finished the season with a 29–2 record and defeated Rappahannock High School in the state final by scores of 25–10, 25–10, and 25–16; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles dominated play, quickly gaining double-digit leads over the Rappahannock Raiders and completing all three sets in less than an hour to secure the dynasty's latest achievement; and

WHEREAS, senior middle hitter Megan Earnest scored a match-high 16 kills, while senior outside hitter Gretchen Surface recorded 13 kills and 13 digs; junior Jayci Morrill facilitated multiple plays with 34 assists and sophomore Kaylee Ramrattan added five aces; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles have won nine state titles in the past 13 years and hold the records for the second-most consecutive state championship victories and second-most state championship victories overall; and

WHEREAS, the successful season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family members, friends, and the entire Auburn High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Auburn High School volleyball team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sherry Millirons, head coach of the Auburn High School volleyball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for this team's exceptional athletic achievements.
