SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 207
Celebrating the life of Charles Edward Camper.

WHEREAS, Charles Edward Camper of Fairfax, owner of Camper's Trophies and Awards, a proud veteran of the United States military, an active volunteer and community leader, and a devoted husband and father, died on February 22, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Charles "Eddie" Camper served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and later worked as a construction superintendent; after suffering a life-threatening work-related injury, he and his son opened Camper's Trophies and Awards in 1968; and

WHEREAS, the trophy business started small, but with persistence, hard work, and a belief in giving back to the community, Eddie Camper guided Camper's Trophies and Awards as it grew and prospered; in 2015, it was honored as Small Business of the Year by the City of Fairfax; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Camper's good works in Fairfax are legendary; he focused on treating everyone fairly and giving back to the community; he made the city a better place through his involvement and contributions to numerous civic organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, an area senior center, and the Fairfax Little League, where he was a longtime coach and role model; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his volunteer work in Fairfax, Eddie Camper was very involved in the Urbanna community, where he had a second home; regardless of where he was, Eddie Camper always willingly lent a hand; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Camper, who was predeceased by one son, Charles Edward Camper II, will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by Mary, his wife of 57 years; children, Mark and Cheryl, and their families; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Charles Edward Camper of Fairfax, an outstanding role model, small business person, and tireless volunteer, who contributed to the betterment of his community in many ways; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Edward Camper as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
