WHEREAS, Russell Montgomery, a major with the Luray Police Department, has served communities throughout the Commonwealth for more than five decades as a law-enforcement officer; and
WHEREAS, Russell Montgomery began his law-enforcement career with the Virginia State Police on April 1, 1971; and
WHEREAS, Russell Montgomery subsequently served with the Page County Sheriff's Office, then joined the Luray Police Department on August 12, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Russell Montgomery has been a trusted friend and an inspirational mentor to many of his fellow police officers, and he has built many strong relationships with members of the public to fulfill his mission to serve and protect the community; and
WHEREAS, Russell Montgomery has served generations of Virginians with the utmost professionalism, dedication, and distinction; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Russell Montgomery for more than 50 years of service as a law-enforcement officer; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Russell Montgomery as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his achievements in service to the residents of Page County and the Commonwealth.
