SENATE BILL NO. 1051 Offered January 9, 2019 Prefiled December 3, 2018 A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 24.2-305.1, relating to precincts; required to be wholly contained within single election district. ---------- Patron-- Peake ---------- Referred to Committee on Privileges and Elections ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 24.2-305.1 as follows:

§24.2-305.1. Precincts to be wholly contained within single election district.

In addition to the requirements for precincts established pursuant to §§ 24.2-307 and 24.2-308, each precinct shall be wholly contained within a single congressional or state legislative district, except where splitting the precinct among two or more such districts is necessary to ensure the population of each district is as nearly equal to the population of every other district as practicable.
