HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 78
Celebrating the life of Lisa Nelson Robertson.

WHEREAS, Lisa Nelson Robertson, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, renowned faith leader, and member of the Virginia Beach community, died on December 30, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson graduated from Sweet Briar College in 1976, where an invitation to the Southern Baptist minister and Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson to speak at the annual religious conference she organized changed the trajectory of her life forever, connecting her with her husband, Timothy, Pat Robertson's son, who she married that same year; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson began her successful career in advertising sales in Boston, first in print and soon thereafter in television, serving as the top biller at what was then WXNE-TV; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson retired from advertising after the birth of her first child to devote herself wholeheartedly to the calling of motherhood, working tirelessly to raise and teach her five children; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson was guided by her faith throughout her life and was forever ready and eager to share her wisdom, encouragement, and prayer support with others; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson started a women's Bible study at Galilee Church in Virginia Beach, which has continued for nearly 40 years, and founded the Changing Seasons outreach program, which since the early 2000s has produced an uplifting speaker program featuring acclaimed faith leaders, entertainers, athletes, and others; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson faithfully served with the boards of the Museum of the Bible and the Proverbs 31 Ministries and was a founding board member of the North American branch of Alpha, an outreach program supporting local churches; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson authored a number of publications distilling her wisdom and faith for the benefit of others, including The Path of Life: Walking in the Loving Presence of God, Advent: Making Christmas About Christ, and a series of Bible study guides; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson advocated effectively for early childhood education through board membership with Elevate Early Education and its predecessor Smart Beginnings South Hampton Roads and, in recognition of her expertise in the area, was appointed by Governor Robert F. McDonnell to serve on the Virginia Advisory Board on Child Abuse and Neglect in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Robertson will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her loving husband of 46 years, Timothy; her children, Laura, Elizabeth, Willis, Caroline, and Abigail, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lisa Nelson Robertson, a cherished member of the Virginia Beach community whose faith and commitment to serving others inspired all who knew her; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lisa Nelson Robertson as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
