HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 588
Commending College Park Elementary School.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, May 30, 2018

WHEREAS, College Park Elementary School, an exceptional public school in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach, has helped students build a strong foundation for lifelong learning for 45 years; and

WHEREAS, College Park Elementary School was established in 1973 and now serves more than 500 students from the College Park, Level Green, College Square, and Eastwick neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, rebuilt in 2011, College Park Elementary School enhances the learning process through state of the art facilities and technology and won the 2011 - 2012 Sustainable School Recognition Award; and

WHEREAS, a Title I school, College Park Elementary School works diligently to support at-risk students, hosting monthly parental involvement meetings, publishing a newsletter that focuses on learning strategies for reading and math, and conducting a comprehensive after-school tutoring program; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, College Park Elementary School has guided and empowered its students to achieve their fullest potential as critical thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and responsible members of the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That College Park Elementary School hereby be commended on the occasion of its 45th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to College Park Elementary School as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the school's legacy of service to the youths of Virginia Beach.
