Celebrating the life of William H. Lauer.

WHEREAS, William H. Lauer, an admired business leader and selfless servant to the Oakton community, died on May 5, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, William "Bill" Lauer grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park; and

WHEREAS, Bill Lauer served his country with the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, then pursued a fulfilling career in business; he founded Tetra Partners and helped shape the future of Northern Virginia by designing several buildings, developments, and master plans; and

WHEREAS, deeply respected by his peers in the industry, Bill Lauer served as president and director of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance; and

WHEREAS, a tireless advocate for less fortunate members of the community, Bill Lauer worked to enhance the quality of life of his fellow residents as a member and leader of several civic and service organizations; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his son, Brian, Bill Lauer will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Rosemary; children and stepchildren and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of William H. Lauer, a respected businessman and community leader in Oakton; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of William H. Lauer as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
