HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 506
Commending Travis Parker Redman.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 11, 2018

 

WHEREAS, Travis Parker Redman, a junior at Poquoson High School and a hardworking member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 28, attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2018; and

WHEREAS, only a limited number of Scouts meet the standards of excellence necessary to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; Travis Redman met and exceeded the requirements by earning 23 merit badges, demonstrating Scout spirit and leadership in his troop, and planning and completing a service project; and

WHEREAS, Travis Redman is an active leader in Boy Scouts of America Troop 28 in Poquoson; he currently serves as den chief for Pack 12 and served as the Troop 28 bugler; and

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout service project, Travis Redman planned, developed, and led repairs of the Poquoson Museum's marsh trail boardwalks, creating a safe place for the community to enjoy nature; and

WHEREAS, an unselfish volunteer for the community, Travis Redman has received three President's Volunteer Service Awards with over 400 service hours; he is active in his church, has participated in mission trips to West Virginia and Tennessee, and has served as a Model Building/Additive Manufacturing Summer Intern at NASA Langley Research Center; and

WHEREAS, Travis Redman has served two years on the High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) team; in 2018, he and his team developed a cupola foot restraint prototype and were selected as finalists in the competition; pending a Final Design Review at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, the cupola foot restraint could be used by astronauts on the International Space Station; and

WHEREAS, Travis Redman plans to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering; he will also continue to serve his fellow Scouts, his church, and his community; and

WHEREAS, Travis Redman exemplifies the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America and has provided valuable service to the community through his Eagle Scout project; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Travis Parker Redman hereby be commended for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Travis Parker Redman as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his remarkable achievements and best wishes for the future.
