WHEREAS, Roger Patton Scott of Callaway, a highly admired businessman and a patriotic veteran who was passionate about military history, died on February 21, 2019; and

WHEREAS, a native of New York, Roger Scott grew up in Lockport, where he graduated from Lockport High School; after earning a bachelor's degree from the General Motors Institute of Technology, he served his country as a member of the United States Army Counterintelligence Corps; and

WHEREAS, Roger Scott pursued a career in manufacturing and industry, working for General Motors, 3M, and Rotron in New York; Carey McFalls in Pennsylvania; and Phillips Industries in Ohio, where he also established a large Christmas tree and beef cattle farm; and

WHEREAS, Roger Scott became the vice president of manufacturing at MW Windows & Doors in Rocky Mount in 1986; among his many notable achievements during his 10 years with the company, he designed a new, innovative line of windows; and

WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement in 1996, Roger Scott helped promote military history as a charter member of the Roanoke World War II Roundtable; he also volunteered his time and leadership with the Service Corps of Retired Executives; and

WHEREAS, an accomplished world traveler, Roger Scott visited many states, including Hawaii and Alaska, and enjoyed trips to Central America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific; and

WHEREAS, Roger Scott will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen; his daughter, Heather, and her family; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Roger Patton Scott, a respected member of the Callaway community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Roger Patton Scott as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
