WHEREAS, Erik DeTurk, an esteemed government employee and an active and engaged member of the Kings Park community in Fairfax County, was named the Braddock District Citizen of the Year by the Braddock District Council in 2023; and
WHEREAS, Erik DeTurk has served as the first vice president of social outreach for the Kings Park Civic Association in Springfield, helping to promote camaraderie in the neighborhood by organizing the first Kings Park National Night Out and through other endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Erik DeTurk plays an outsized role in the maintenance and beautification of Kings Park Park as the leader of the park volunteer team; and
WHEREAS, Erik DeTurk supports the students, faculty, staff, and families of Kings Park Elementary School and Kings Glen Elementary School in Springfield as the treasurer of the schools' parent-teacher association; and
WHEREAS, through his unwavering commitment to assisting and supporting his community, Erik DeTurk has helped to make Kings Park and the Braddock District of Fairfax County wonderful places to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Erik DeTurk hereby be commended for being named the 2023 Braddock District Citizen of the Year by the Braddock District Council; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Erik DeTurk as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth.
