HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 317
Commending the Titustown Civic League.

WHEREAS, the Titustown Civic League stands as a beacon of community unity and empowerment in Norfolk, dedicated to preserving the rich heritage and fostering the continued prosperity of the historic Titustown neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, with a steadfast commitment to preserving, enhancing, and meticulously planning for the orderly development of the area, the Titustown Civic League serves as a guardian of Titustown's legacy; and

WHEREAS, established in 1911, Titustown emerged as an independent African American enclave in Norfolk, distinguished by its proud tradition of homeownership and unwavering sense of identity; and

WHEREAS, as one of the earliest African American neighborhoods in Norfolk, Titustown holds a special place in the city's history, symbolizing the resilience and enduring contributions of its residents; and

WHEREAS, today, the community remains vibrant and thriving, serving as a testament to the spirit of unity and perseverance that defines Titustown; and

WHEREAS, the Titustown Civic League plays a pivotal role in nurturing this spirit, working tirelessly to promote the general welfare, safety, and civic pride of its residents; and

WHEREAS, by actively engaging in initiatives to preserve the neighborhood's history and facilitate its ongoing success, the Titustown Civic League ensures that Titustown will continue to be a cherished home to residents for generations to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Titustown Civic League hereby be commended for its legacy of service to the historic Titustown community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Titustown Civic League as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's history and its contributions to the Commonwealth.
