Commending Chief Petty Officer Andraé D. Austin.

WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Andraé D. Austin, a native of Richmond, was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, advancement to the rank of Chief Petty Officer is an esteemed promotion within the enlisted naval ranks, requiring superior evaluation scores, dedicated time in service, demonstrated performance on specialty examinations, and favorable peer review; and

WHEREAS, the rank of Chief Petty Officer carries with it great privileges, respect, and the responsibilities of technical expertise, excellent standards of performance, and effective leadership; and

WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Austin completed the rigorous qualification process, exhibiting the mastery of knowledge, adaptability in demanding situations, exemplary strength of character, immense integrity, sound judgment, and decisive leadership skills necessary to advance to the rank of Chief Petty Officer; and

WHEREAS, throughout the examination and selection process, Chief Petty Officer Austin displayed his ability to inspire strong morals and values, provide encouragement and friendship, foster high morale and esprit de corps, and instill a sense of preparedness in his fellow sailors; and

WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Austin has the full support and immense gratitude of his family, friends, and fellow citizens for his willingness to defend liberty and to uphold the proud traditions of the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Austin's exceptional service and devotion to duty and to his fellow sailors is a reminder of the commitment and bravery of the members of our armed forces worldwide; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Chief Petty Officer Andraé D. Austin for his promotion to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chief Petty Officer Andraé D. Austin as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and appreciation for his hard work and dedication.
