HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 613
Commending the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center.

WHEREAS, since 2008, the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center has served the community by providing rehabilitation and nursing home care to United States Armed Forces veterans in and around Richmond; and

WHEREAS, situated on the campus of the Hunter Holmes McGuire Virginia Medical Center, the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center is also conveniently located near Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, a top-ranked hospital; and

WHEREAS, the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center offers 160 private rooms and many amenities designed to make patients feel at home, such as a barber shop, a library, a game room, lounges, computers with Internet access, a walking trail, and landscaped courtyards; and

WHEREAS, the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center operates a secure Alzheimer's and dementia wing, where highly trained staff offer long-term care; and

WHEREAS, named for two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, Colonel Carl L. Sitter and Colonel Van T. Barfoot, the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center strives to live up to the memory of their gallant actions by providing exceptional care; and

WHEREAS, the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center has skillfully assisted many veterans in dealing with their illnesses and injuries; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center for its years of outstanding medical care; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's commitment to dutifully serving the men and women who have served Virginia and the United States.
