HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 452
Commending Anita Vassar.

WHEREAS, Anita Vassar of Newport News, an exemplary foreign disclosure specialist with the United States Army, will retire from the service in October 2010; and

WHEREAS, throughout a long and successful career, Anita Vassar has worked in all areas of the United States Army's Training and Doctrines Command (TRADOC), which has included responsibilities in information disclosure, foreign visit requests, and foreign visitor certifications; and

WHEREAS, Anita Vassar's insight and experience helped TRADOC manage 1,295 visit requests per year from over 3,375 foreign visitors; and

WHEREAS, Anita Vassar has been instrumental in providing TRADOC information in a timely manner in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and valued employee, Anita Vassar was also instrumental in establishing a computer-based training program for U.S. Army personnel that has trained over 21,000 soldiers, civilians, and contractors; and

WHEREAS, Anita Vassar's use of technology has resulted in immeasurable savings to not only TRADOC but the entire United States Army at a time when resources are limited; and

WHEREAS, Anita Vassar has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her stellar career for her many contributions; and

WHEREAS, a leader in the Newport News community, Anita Vassar is an active member of Women on Mission and Hilton Baptist Church, where she has served as director of the Children's Christmas Workshop and a member of the Adult Support Team for the Youth; and

WHEREAS, after a remarkable career, Anita Vassar will be retiring in October 2010; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Anita Vassar for her many achievements during her successful career; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Anita Vassar as an expression of the General Assembly's respect and gratitude for her contributions to her country and community and best wishes in her future endeavors.
