WHEREAS, the Poquoson Little League 9 - 10 Baseball All-Star team capped an exciting 2011 summer by capturing the District 7 title and advancing to the state Little League tournament; and WHEREAS, the team, chosen from among 60 players on five Little League teams, consisted of Josh Brown, Donovan Edwards, John Graham, Seth Grondin, Colten Hicks, Andrew Holloway, Kyle Jackson, Drake Palmer, Steven Parker, Hunter Schmidt, Shane Scott, and Zackary Simmons; and WHEREAS, the Poquoson Little League 9 - 10 Baseball All-Star team members trained diligently and demonstrated their skill throughout the District 7 tournament, advancing to the championship game and defeating York American 10 - 6 to earn a place in state tournament play at Bennett's Creek; and WHEREAS, under the leadership of manager Shaun Brown and coaches Mike Jackson and Marvin Holloway, the Poquoson Little League 9 - 10 Baseball All-Star team exhibited great talent, spirit, team work, and sportsmanship; and WHEREAS, the Poquoson Little League All-Star teams enjoyed a remarkable 2011 season with the 9 - 10, 10 - 11, and 11 - 12 teams all taking home the District 7 titles and representing the district at state competition, a coveted triple crown believed to be the first for Poquoson Little League; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Poquoson Little League 9 - 10 Baseball All-Star team on winning the District 7 baseball tournament and representing District 7 at the state Little League tournament; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Poquoson Little League 9 - 10 Baseball All-Star team as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for the team's championship performance. |
