HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 105
Commending the Martinsville High School boys' basketball team.

WHEREAS, the Martinsville High School boys' basketball team capped off an impressive season by winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 2A state championship; and

WHEREAS, the Martinsville High School Bulldogs claimed their 14th state basketball title by defeating a talented team from Dan River High School 54 - 43 in the championship game, which was played on March 11, 2015; and

WHEREAS, during the title game, which was held at the Siegel Center, the Martinsville High School boys' basketball team never trailed and the teams were tied only twice; and

WHEREAS, the Martinsville High School Bulldogs, whose skill and discipline were tightly honed all season long under the able leadership of head coach Jeff Adkins and his staff, often employed a tight zone defense during the title game, which forced their opponents to rely on outside shooting; and

WHEREAS, the victory in Richmond was all the more exciting because the Martinsville High School Bulldogs used only six players throughout the entire game; the players were quick on the perimeter and the athleticism of the defense showed in the number of plays that were blocked; and

WHEREAS, an enthusiastic crowd from Martinsville traveled to the Siegel Center to cheer on the Bulldogs; the team has been strongly supported by their families, friends, fellow students, faculty, staff, and the entire community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Martinsville High School boys' basketball team for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Class 2A state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeff Adkins, head coach of the Martinsville High School boys' basketball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for the team's outstanding performance and championship season.
