A BILL to direct the Board of Education to amend its regulations to require that each public school create and maintain a mental health break space within the public school building.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. The Board of Education shall amend its regulations to require that each public school create and maintain a mental health break space within the public school building. The Board of Education shall collaborate with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services to develop regulations for (i) the design of each space, (ii) student usage, and (iii) staffing. These regulations shall require that each mental health break space be indoors, separate from classrooms, and as close as possible to the school's medical service facilities.
