Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That §3.2-5115 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§3.2-5115. Animals.

No animal shall be permitted in any area used for the manufacture or storage of food products. A guard or guide animal may be allowed in some areas if the presence of the animal is unlikely to result in contamination of food, food contact surfaces, or food packaging materials. Additionally, a companion animal may be allowed inside or on the premises of a winery or farm winery licensed pursuant to §4.1-207, provided that the presence of the companion animal in such areas is unlikely to result in contamination of food, food contact surfaces, or food packaging materials. For the purposes of this section, "companion animal" means the same as that term is defined in §3.2-6500.
