AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee on Health, Welfare and
Institutions
on January 24, 2023)

A BILL to direct the Department of Medical Assistance Services
to convene a work group to advise the Board of Medical Assistance Services on
the design and implementation of a violence prevention services benefit.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. That the Department of Medical Assistance Services (the Department) shall convene a work group to advise the Board of Medical Assistance Services on the design and implementation of a violence prevention services benefit. The work group shall include representatives from the Department and violence intervention programs, medical providers, survivors of community violence, and other members as deemed appropriate by the Department. The Department shall report the findings of such work group to the Chairmen of the Senate Committee on Education and Health and the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions by November 1, 2023.
