Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 6.2 of Title 20 a section numbered 20-124.11 as follows:

§20-124.11. Stay of proceedings.

Any proceeding brought pursuant to this Title or Title 16.1 to modify previously ordered custodial or visitation rights of a deploying parent or guardian due to the parent's or guardian's deployment shall be stayed upon the request of the deploying parent or guardian in accordance with the provisions of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (50 U.S.C. app. 501 et seq.), as amended.
