SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 968
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Rey Farias for his outstanding service as president of
  the board of the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School
  District; and
 
         WHEREAS, Rey Farias has through the years served the Los
  Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District with
  distinction as a coach, athletic director, principal, school
  board member, and school board president; and
 
         WHEREAS, A 1961 graduate of La Joya High School, Mr. Farias
  attended Southwest Texas State University, where he earned
  Little All-America honors as a walk-on football player and was
  second in rushing and scoring in the Southland Conference his
  senior year; and
 
         WHEREAS, He coached the football team at Los Fresnos High
  School from 1975 through 1978 before moving into administration,
  where he served for 24 years; he has served as a trustee on the
  school board for six years; and
 
         WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman has played an
  important role in the lives of countless young men and women, and
  he is truly deserving of recognition for his many contributions
  to the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District;
  now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Rey Farias on his exceptional
  service as president of the board of the Los Fresnos Consolidated
  Independent School District and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
