| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Roland Williams for his outstanding contributions to | ||
| his community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Roland Williams and his wife of nearly 69 years, | ||
| Gloria Williams, are residents of the Wesley Court senior living | ||
| community in Abilene; soon after moving to the facility, | ||
| Mr. Williams realized that he rarely saw anyone visiting with his | ||
| fellow residents; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A former pastor, Mr. Williams decided to continue | ||
| his ministry as the facility's volunteer chaplain to bring | ||
| comfort and companionship to the members of his community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, His visits and his warm and caring manner have | ||
| lifted the spirits of residents and brought joy to many; in | ||
| addition to visiting residents in their rooms, he also leads | ||
| Sunday school classes each week at Wesley Court for those who are | ||
| unable to attend church; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In appreciation of his generous spirit and his | ||
| kindness in reaching out to help his fellow man, Mr. Williams has | ||
| been nominated for Big Hearts in the Big Country; it is truly | ||
| fitting that he receive special recognition for his good works; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Roland Williams for tending to the | ||
| spiritual well-being of his neighbors with compassion and | ||
| genuine concern and extend to him best wishes for continued | ||
| success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
